Five questions for our intern Tarik

We regularly welcome motivated interns, ready to immerse themselves in the world of Finance & Treasury! Our newest addition is Tarik and we are happy to introduce him to you. Are you curious about Tarik’s story and what it’s like to work as an intern at Orchard Finance? Then read on quickly!
Can you tell something about yourself?
I am a third-year bachelor student of business administration at Erasmus University. During my studies, I developed an interest in the world of finance. However, the theory in the lecture halls is sometimes a bit abstract. To put theory into practice, I wanted to do an internship. I have been doing an internship at Orchard for two months now, and it offers a great opportunity to both gain experience in finance and learn from experienced professionals.
Apart from that, I am from Alphen aan den Rijn, located in the green heart of South Holland. I am an avid runner and enjoy reading. On weekends, I enjoy watching American football.
Can you tell us something about your work?
As an intern, I am mainly responsible for supporting the analysts and consultants within Orchard. This includes summarising relevant news, retrieving market data via Bloomberg, market research, preparing client profiles, and work in Excel. In this way, I develop my analytical skills and increase my knowledge of financial advisory.
What do you hope to learn in the coming months?
I would like to immerse myself in treasury practice in the coming months. Treasury is a field that was virtually not covered in my studies and I see in it a great opportunity to further develop my knowledge and skills. In addition, I would like to further hone my financial modelling skills. I think this skill will add a lot for my future career.
What is the most interesting thing about you that is not listed on your CV?
I love a good challenge and trivia quizzes give me that in abundance. It provides a challenging way to increase my general knowledge and strengthen my problem-solving skills. History and topography are my specialities in this.
Do you have a tip for people considering applying for an internship at Orchard?
My tip for anyone considering an internship at Orchard: by all means, do it! Practical work experience is golden for both your personal development and your future career. At Orchard, you not only get the chance to gain knowledge, but also to expand your network and develop yourself personally. It is therefore a unique opportunity to discover whether finance is really your passion.
