Team expansion: Welcome Jan Willem!

Good news! We’ve brought a new colleague on board. Jan Willem started last month as Analyst Debt Advisory & Treasury. Jan Willem is no stranger to us: about two years ago he did his internship at Orchard Finance. So, it’s great that we can welcome Jan Willem back! Are you curious to know what it is like to work as an analyst at Orchard Finance? Then read on quickly!

Who are you and can you tell us something about your background?

I was born and raised in Ede and have been living in Nijmegen for four years now. Here I completed my bachelor’s degree in Business Economics and my master’s degree in Corporate Finance. Between my bachelor and master I did a five-month internship at Orchard Finance. I really liked it, so I always kept in touch with Orchard Finance. When I finished my studies and started looking for a job, I looked around a bit more, but nowhere did I find the atmosphere as pleasant and the work as diverse as at Orchard Finance. So in the end, the choice was quite easy!

How did you experience your first few weeks at Orchard Finance as a Debt Advisory & Treasury Analyst?

The first few weeks have flown by! I met a lot of familiar faces, but I also got to know a lot of new colleagues. The atmosphere is just as nice as it was two years ago, so I have felt at home from the very first moment. In addition, I am already working on a lot of different projects, all of which teach me something new. It’s really nice to feel the confidence right away and be able to help on ongoing assignments.

What do you hope to learn this year?

I hope to develop myself this year mainly in the area of project management. As an analyst, you are often working on several assignments at the same time, which means that there are several deadlines mixed up and several project managers expecting something from you. I hope to grow in clearly communicating the time I have and setting priorities in order to manage everyone’s expectations. Working as an analyst at Orchard is very much suited to this, as you get the chance to grow into this.

What is the most interesting thing about you that is not on your CV?

I am a huge sports fan. I personally play football in a friends’ team at a questionable level and love to do a round on my road bike. I also really enjoy following and watching as many sports as possible. Football is clearly my favourite in that, so as a PSV fan, this year can’t go wrong anyway!

What does your ideal day off look like?

My ideal day off starts with a game of football, but just as important is the third half afterwards. Drinking a few beers with the team outside in the sun, or if that’s not possible inside the canteen with a nice game playing in the background. And preferably every Sunday!
